MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION:

About the CHAMBORD French Press Coffee Maker

Discover the art of the perfect brew with the CHAMBORD French press coffee maker. The French press system is beloved by coffee aficionados worldwide for its simplicity of brewing and purity of taste. And the CHAMBORD is the original and best French press coffee maker.
An icon of Bodum, the CHAMBORD is synonymous with the Bodum name. The original design dates back to the pre-war period when the Italian Attilo Calimani developed the basic principle. Bodum founder, Jørgen Bodum, began work on his version of the French press in the 1970s, but it was the acquisition of Melior-Martin in 1991 – a company that produced a dome-shaped French press – that led to the development of the classic CHAMBORD we know and love today.
A true original, the CHAMBORD has a timeless design and is produced with the same superior craftsmanship its devotees worldwide have come to expect. An environmentally friendly method of brewing, the French press system epitomizes Bodum’s core belief that we should ‘make taste, not waste’.

How it Works

The French press system is the simplest way to brew rich, flavorful coffee.

  1. Place the CHAMBORD on a flat surface, hold the handle firmly, and pull the plunger up and out of the carafe.
  2. Add one rounded teaspoon or one Bodum scoop of coarsely ground coffee for each cup/4oz water.
  3. Pour hot water into the carafe (about 92-96ºC) leaving a minimum of 2.5cm/1inch at the top, and stir with a plastic or wooden spoon.
  4. Place the plunger unit on top of the pot and turn the lid so the pour spout is closed to retain the heat.
  5. Leave four minutes to brew, then slowly lower the plunger. Turn the lid to open the pour spout and pour your delicious cup of joe.

Use & Care

Wash in warm, soapy water before first use and dry thoroughly.
*All of our coffee and tea makers are measured in European cup sizes: 1 Cup = about 4oz.

BODUM: Innovating Quality Coffee, Tea, and Home Products Since 1944

BODUM's mission is to deliver high-quality coffee and tea solutions and household accessories to everyone, aligning with the brand's core values. By focusing on innovative design, sustainability, and affordability, BODUM creates products that are not only stylish and functional but also respect the environment and the wellbeing of its staff and communities.

The BODUM story began in 1944 in Copenhagen, Denmark, when founder Peter Bodum set out to improve the design of vacuum coffee makers, making them more affordable and accessible. His son, Jørgen Bodum, took over the company in 1974 and expanded the brand globally. BODUM is now known for its iconic coffee press and innovative tea brewing solutions like the ASSAM teapot, as well as a range of other kitchen and household products, including cookware, cutlery, and electrical goods.

BODUM's dedication to great design led to the establishment of PI-Design, an in-house design unit in Switzerland that continues to uphold the brand's tradition of functionality and quality. The company's expansion has included flagship stores in major cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Brussels, as well as a variety of shop-in-shops and French Press Cafés around the world.

ORDNING&REDA®, a Swedish brand known for its high-quality notepads, bags, and accessories, became a subsidiary of BODUM in 2003, complementing the brand's focus on design and functionality. BODUM's commitment to ethics and sustainability is evident in its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions at its Portuguese production base, using innovative green technologies.

BODUM's Basics range offers a sustainable and affordable choice, made from natural materials with minimal waste and packaging. As the brand continues to innovate and expand, BODUM remains dedicated to creating exceptional products that elevate everyday experiences while making a positive impact on the planet.
